The Right to an Education
Sat Apr 24 2021
I have twin 12-year-old sons. One was born with Down syndrome and later also diagnosed with moderate to severe autism. He is in an Intensive Support Program (ISP) class and has been in and out of in-person learning for the past year. He, like many others like him, do not do well with virtual learning. Even though he should be in the classroom right now, high COVID case counts are forcing him to stay home, denying him his fundamental right to an education. He has also been denied much-needed therapies to help his development. Without these he is likely to regress. We are not the only family facing this challenge.
